5 people killed in airstrike on Mashhad neighborhood, Aleppo

Syrian regime air strike late Friday killed at least 5 civilians, including two children, in al-Mashhad neighborhood of Aleppo, activists said.

Activists and medics told Zaman al-Wasl that 5 people have been killed and dozens wounded by a missile targeted the rebel-held neighborhood late Friday, leaving huge destruction.

Aleppo city is divided between the Syria regime military, backed by Shiite militia, and a range of insurgent groups including al Qaeda's Nusra Front, Islamist brigades and Western-backed rebels.

Syria's conflict, now in its fifth year, has killed more than 220,000 people and caused millions to flee.
