In cooperation with Zaman Al Wasl, Al Jazeera aired mysteries of Sednaya Massacre 2008

Al Jazeera Media Network in cooperation with Zaman Al Wasl newspaper aired late on Thursday an investigative report which has disclosed, for the first time, the mysteries and secrets of Sednaya Military Prison's massacre in July 2008.
Al-Jazeera's Black Box series (Al Sondouq Al Aswad) revealed new facts and information that came to the screen for the first time about the massacre which committed mostly against Islamist inmates on July 5 2008.
A big contribution in the episode came from an exclusive 10-part report published in 2013 by Zaman al-Wasl which revealed number of torture memos and special interviews with former detainees who witnessed the massacre.
On July 2008, Human Rights Watch urged the Syrian regime to order an independent investigation into the deadly shooting of inmates by military police at Sednaya prison and to make the findings public. But no response came from Bashar al-Assad's government since then.
Estimates of the number of inmates in Sednaya in 2008 was around 2000.
