Fighters of Tahrir al-Sham Army took control of parts of an international road connects Damascus with the Iraqi border, the rebel group said in statement Thursday.
Baghdad Road is a strategic supply route for Bashar al-Assad's military bastions in the eastern countryside of Damascus such as Dumeir and al-Seen military airports.
The new rebel group that operates in the eastern Qalamoun region was formed two weeks ago of numbers of Syrian army defectors and moderate rebels.
