(Profile of Torture Victim)- Hussam Idriss Idriss was in his way to his hometown Qusair when the Syrian security arrested him near the Syrian-Lebanese borders early 2013.
The young carpenter, who was working in Lebanon, had spent months in State Security headquarters in Damascus when Zaman al-Wasl source first met him and later identified him among photos of mass torture for Syrian detainees that were a part of photos smuggled out of Syria by a former Syrian military police photographer mid 2013.
Idriss' former inmate Doctor M.Y (He preferred to give the first letters of his name) said Idriss likely had been throttled.
Idriss had been accused of killing Syrian army troops and cooperating with extremist Sunni groups in Lebanon.
The former detainee (M.Y) said Idriss was a leading example for stubbornness and bravery even behind the prison's bars. He was the 'patience and fortitude' for me in many occasions, he added.
According to Idriss' photo, the killer fingers still appear on the neck of the victim, M.Y said.
The atrocious photos of 'Crime of the Age' had been taken between 2011 and mid 2013 in the well-known 601 military hospital in Mezzah neighborhood of Damascus.
During the last weeks, Zaman al-Wasl and in cooperation with the Syrian Association for the Missing and Prisoners of Conscience has published more than 100 photos of mass torture.
In mid 2013, 55,000 photos smuggled out of Syria by a former Syrian military police photographer gave a glimpse of some of the abuses being committed in Syrian jails.
The digital images of 11,000 dead detainees showed emaciated bodies and the defector, identified only as Ceasar, described seeing corpses with "deep wounds and burns and strangulations.
More than 220,000 people have been killed in Syria since the revolt against Bashar al-Assad began in March 2011, the United Nations says.
Zaman al-Wasl deliberately insists to show victims' faces, so their families and relatives can recognize them.
