Assad's intelligence monitors U.S.-led airstrikes due to daily reports

(Translation by Yusra Ahmed)

Many intelligence reports revealed close follow-up of Syrian regime to the air strikes of U.S.-led Coalition against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq and other hard-liners Islamist groups.

The air strikes targeted bases of the Islamic State and the Nusra Front, in the same time excluded any base for the Syrian regime.

Reports were issued in October and November last year forwarded from intelligence branch 331 to the Head of Branch 255, where one of them mentioned that an official order demanded the intelligence branches to provide daily reports about the US-led alliance airplanes and their targeted areas and the outcome of strikes.

One report of the 5 ones Zaman al-Wasl obtained, mentioned that Alliance’s airplanes had targeted and completely destroyed a base of Nusra Front on 31 November 2014 in the city of Harem in Idlib countryside.

The rest of reports showed that Alliance’s strikes had not hit any place in Idlib city during the period the reports covered, while the regime’s air-forces had not stopped from hitting the city under claims of targeting the terrorist armed groups.

All reports did not show any negative attitude toward the US-led alliance airstrikes, even they did not described it as “offensive” at least, while the same reports described the rebels as “Terrorists”

The mentioned reports provoke suspicions about the possibility of coordination between the Syrian regime and the alliance at minimum levels, to guarantee excluding the regime’s bases from air-strikes.

The airstrikes of US-led alliance were launched in 23 September 2014 targeting bases of extreme armed groups.

The U.S.-led coalition’s airstrikes killed about 2000 fighter of the Islamic State and 90 fighter of Nusra front, while 66 civilians were killed including 10 children.
