Opposition's government employees wait paycheck

The Employees of Syrian opposition’s government are still waiting their paychecks for the last four months, source said as the Western-backed group faces funds decline.

$ 1.4 million is wages' monthly amount for more than 400 employees in and out Syria.

Ahmed To’meh, Prime Minister of National Coalition interim government, early this year has cut 50% of the salaries amid a series of austerity procedures.

To’meh, in an official decision issued months ago, said the salaries cut will not exclude any worker including him. But activists accused the government of lack of transparency and corruption.

The staff expects to get their paycheck as soon as paymaster, To’meh, comes back to Turkey.

Opposition’s salaries range is between $1500 and $8000, according to sources.

In relevant context, some NC members called for a salary to avoid extortion and ‘political money’.

"Allocating monthly payment will save members face," They also have families and daily needs as most Syrians, Yahia Makatabi said.

Makatabi pointed out to the Coalition's employees who get paycheck at the end of the month while the most members can not afford living.

Makatbi's statement comes along with mounting criticism over members’ expenses and the financial support they get from the West and gulf Arab States, besides some businessmen.
