Rebels seize 4 checkpoints north of Homs, kill 20 troops

Syrian rebels backed by Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham fighters have launched a surprise attack on Syrian army posts in northern countryside of Homs,  leaving 20 troops dead, activists said Tuesday.

Rebels took control of four checkpoints near Jbourin and Kafrnan, pro-Bashar al-Assad villages, north of Homs. The checkpoints were used as bases for mortar and missile launchers on rebel-held areas.

Meanwhile, the aerial and ground bombardment has targeted towns of al-Ghajer, al-Hola, al-Saen, Talbiseh and al-Ghanto.

14 people have been killed in Talbiseh town on Tuesday by army shelling, medics told Zaman al-Wasl.

Syria's four-year-old war has killed more than 220,000 people and forced millions out of their homes.
