Syrian rebels backed by Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham fighters have launched a surprise attack on Syrian army posts in northern countryside of Homs, leaving 20 troops dead, activists said Tuesday.
Rebels took control of four checkpoints near Jbourin and Kafrnan, pro-Bashar al-Assad villages, north of Homs.The checkpoints were used as bases for mortar and missile launchers on rebel-held areas.
Meanwhile, the aerial and ground bombardment has targeted towns of al-Ghajer, al-Hola, al-Saen, Talbiseh and al-Ghanto.
14 people have been killed in Talbiseh town on Tuesday by army shelling, medics told Zaman al-Wasl.
Syria's four-year-old war has killed more than 220,000 people and forced millions out of their homes.
