Churches and Monasteries of Maloula are safe

Rebels entered Maloula, the Christian town  and kept away from churches

Mother Pelagia  Sayah, the Head of the Saint Mar Takla monastery in Maloula, the last inhabitant Aramaic town in the world near Damascus in Syria, denied any attack on churches and monasteries in Maloula, the unique and important  town for Christians all over the world.

In an interview to a Lebanese TV channel, she explained that militants from Free Syrian Army are still in town, and pointed out to clashes and fire exchange during the night that continued to daylight hours on the outskirts of the town.

What Mother Sayah said contradict with what “Almayadin” Tv channel as it claimed that gunmen have stolen Mar Elias Church in the town of Maloula Rural Damascus"

Heavy clashes between Assad's forces and Nusra Front fighters persisted in surrounding mountains Thursday, according to the Observatory, which collects information from a network of anti-regime activists.

The rebels entered the ancient Christian village of Maloula , which is on a UNESCO list of tentative world heritage sites, on Wednesday after an al-Nusra fighter blew himself up at a regime checkpoint at the entrance to the mountain village.

Maloula is about 60 kilometers northeast of Damascus, is home to 3,300 residents, some of whom still speak a version of Aramaic, the ancient language of biblical times believed to have been spoken by Jesus.
