Syria's
opposition said on Friday it would attend peace talks that were set for
March 14, but downplayed the chances of reaching agreement with the
Syrian government. A
statement from the High Negotiations Committee said it would focus on
the establishment of an interim governing body with full executive
powers, and would insist on Syria's territorial integrity. It also
said the Syrian government was preparing a military air and ground
escalation in the "coming period", without elaborating. (Reuters)
