Regime lost most attack helicopters since revolution erupted in 2011: source

(Zaman al-Wasl)- Syrian regime forces have lost more than 75% of attack helicopters of different missions including mi-8, mi-17, mi-25, and gazelles, since the outbreak of the revolution in March 2011, well-informed source said.

The source revealed that the regime has only less than 50 helicopters out of 200 which he had in 2011.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source clarified that regime helicopter loss was by rebels downing the helicopters or the by the bad use and technical condition of the helicopters. In addition, a huge number of helicopters were destroyed during the raid of 3 helicopter airports Marj al-Sultan, Taftnaz, and Ming, pointing out that more than 100 helicopters were destroyed.

Brigade 86 in Mezzah, Gazelle helicopters.
-Brigade 64- fighter jets of mi-25 type
Brigade 59 Russian fighter and transport helicopters of mi-8, mi-17
Brigade 63 Russian fighter transport helicopters mi-8, mi-17
The Air Force Academy, mi-8
Squadron 618 Russian navy helicopters mi-14, Kamof-28
The helicopters were present in most of Syria’s airports to oppress the revolution and the helicopters used all types of air ammunition and weapons including air bombs and explosive spouts.
