Aleppo: Karaj al-Hajez crossing, path of death and misery

The last image of Reuters showing Syrian people running from a fire at a gasoline and oil shop in Aleppo's Bustan Al-Qasr neighborhood October 20, 2013, might be the nearest photo-Story about what is really happening in the most controversial crossing point between rebels and Assad army in Aleppo.

Witnesses said the fire was caused by a bullet fired by a sniper loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the Karaj al-Hajez crossing, a passageway separating Aleppo's Bustan al-Qasr, which is under the rebels' control and Al-Masharqa neighborhood, an area controlled by the regime.

Activists for many times have described Karaj al-Hajez crossing as Rafah, in reference to the Palestinian-Egyptian crossing, where the misery and suffering are sweeping the crossing.

Bustan al-Qasr crossing, the only option for the residents of besieged west Aleppo was the main crossing linking rebel-controlled east Aleppo with the regime-controlled west side, is aptly named the ''death crossing,'' or ''Rafah crossing,'' as several people making the dangerous trip get picked out, seemingly at random, every day by regime snipers positioned on higher ground, Edward Dark (a pseudonym), Syrian resident in Aleppo wrote to Al monitor website.

The mounting complaints over the impropriate behavior  of rebels who control the crossing, have pushed the rebels themselves to find solutions where they asked last month the Islamic Ahrar al-Sham movement to leave the crossing control to Shariah Authority with representatives from Jabhat al-Nushra, Liwa'a al-Tawhi and Ahrar al-Sham, according to Zaman Alwasl report.

Observers said that the situation may escalates and surpasses the severe siege, hard entry and soar of prices, the upcoming scenario will turn the main crossing point into battle filed more than now. It's very strategic point for rebels as well its 'thick stick' to lash the Assad forces painfully.

Perhaps the fate of Aleppo as Dark said to be a broken city of deserted streets and empty shops, as a dejected population of almost 2 million is being slowly strangled to death.
