Rebel source said dozens of Regime Army Soldiers have been killed by al-Qaeda affiliate fighters yesterday after ambush targeted their military convoy in al-Sfiera city near Aleppo.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant have planted the main road of the city by explosive devices and mines, the source told Zaman Alwasl.
In relevant development, The ISIS stormed a rebel battalion's headquarters in Minbej city and detained several fighters from the battalion, the British-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory said.
A day ago, The ISIS
stormed the Saudi channel, AL Aan bureau in Aleppo city, taking over all of the
equipment and weapons in the office, and claiming that the channel worked for
the CIA, according to the Observatory.
''They also initially detained the sound specialist but released him
last night,'' the watchdog added.
Rebel groups have become
increasingly fractured, with Islamic extremists, including those linked to
al-Qaida, assuming prominent roles in battle.
The Syrian conflict
erupted in March 2011 as a popular uprising against Assad that quickly
escalated into civil war. More than 115,000 people have been killed since then
and millions of Syrians have been displaced.
