24 troops from Tartus province killed in two weeks

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 24 regime troops from Tartus province were killed in the last two weeks by the Islamic State and rebel groups, according to pro-regime news feeds.

The death toll included 6 officers and 18 soldiers killed in Deir Ezzor, Idlib Hama and Eastern Ghouta suburbs.

Five troops were killed at the eve of the New Year in the town of Harasta as rebels surround the strategic al-Morakabat base. 

More than 119,000 pro-regime forces have been killed, including 62,000 Syrian troops, tens of thousands of loyalist fighters, and 1,556 fighters from Hezbollah, according to a new estimate by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Alawites-dominated coastal region was, and still, the main manpower supply for Bashar al-Assad's regime. The mourning posters have been sweeping the streets and pro-regime social media of coastal province.
