Opposition reveals military pilot alive after 3 years of shooting down his Mig-21

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A Syrian military pilot is believed to be alive after three years of being mourned by the pro-regime media outlets, a document by opposition reconciliation committee revealed.

Name of Major Pilot Abdulaziz Eid Yousef has been resurfaced again when an opposition committee enrolled his name in a prisoner-swap deal with the Assad forces in Hama province.

Yousef’s Mig-21 was shot down on September 11, 2013 in Al-Arabaeen Mountain in northern Idlib province.

The regime army also mourned Colonel Ziad Daowd, another military pilot, but Zaman al-Wasl sources revealed later that he is still alive in Idlib where rebel factions hold the two pilots captive.

More than 119,000 pro-regime forces have been killed, including 62,000 troops, tens of thousands of loyalist militiamen, and 1,556 fighters from Hezbollah, according to a new estimate by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The regime forces, backed by Russian air force and Iranian-backed militias, have stepped up its offensive on Idlib and Hama provinces, pushing to take major rebel stronghold in Syria.
