28 troops from Latakia killed in Ramadan

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 28 troops from coastal Latakia province were killed in the holy month of Ramadan, pro-regime news feeds said.

Most of the slain soldiers were killed by Daesh in eastern Syria as the militant group showed fierce resistance despite shrinking territory.

The death toll included 24 troops from the city of Jableh.

The Alawites-dominated areas are still the main manpower supply for Bashar al-Assad's regime. The mourning posters and statements have been sweeping the streets and social media pages.

More than 125,000 pro-regime forces have been killed in seven years of brutal war, according to local monitoring groups.
