Former female detainee brutally beaten in Turkey after revealing rape memos in Assad prisons

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Aida al-Haj Yousuf, former Syrian detainee, was severely beaten by unknown attackers in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on Tuesday, following torture and rape memos published by Zaman al-Wasl.

Yousuf, who has been released, as part of prisoner exchange, is living with her children in Gaziantep, in order to escape death.

She was the victim of a surprise attack by three men who had aggressed and beaten her in front of the passersby. Then, they escaped before being identified.

Aida filed a complaint to the Turkish police, where she underwent a medical examination.

The attack on this former Syrian detainee, who had escaped death in the Assad detention centers to tell the world about her suffering under the hands of the executioners in Assad's prisons, was not the only one.

One day earlier, the correspondent of Zaman al-Wasl, (A.M) was stabbed and beaten by unknown assailants in Istanbul, the metropolitan city, after only few days from arriving from one of the besieged areas of Syria.

It seems that the attacks on return in Gaziantep and (A.M) in Istanbul, are linked because the latter is the editor responsible of the editing of the materials of the series "Syrian women in Assad prisons" which reveals the episodes of the violations committed by the Assad regime, on the Syrian detainees.

The attacks came after the publication of two episodes of the series "Syrians in the prisons of Assad". Aida has first told us of her own suffering, and then she told us about the tragedy of the other women detainee.

While Zaman Al-Wasl is calling for protection for the colleague correspondent and former detainee, who are both still living in Turkey, it insists on continuing to publish the series, which reveals the torture, the violations, in the prisons of Assad, those who ever entered is missing, and who ever get to be miraculous escaped from is considered a reborn.

Zaman al-Wasl calls on human rights organizations in Turkey and of the rest of the world, and especially the ones dedicated in the women's rights activism, to take up the responsibility of defending these women's rights.
