Three people wounded in Russian strikes on Idlib province

Three civilians were injured Monday in Russian airstrikes targeting displaced camps in Jabal al-Zawiya region, south of Idlib province.

Zaman al-Wasl correspondent said that three civilians were wounded, as a result of the Russian warplanes carrying out four air raids targeting a gathering of displaced camps near the town of Ma'aret Misrin, north of Idlib.

Zaman correspondent added that the Russian warplanes launched five additional air strikes using concussive missiles, targeting the Sheikh Bahr area, which also contains camps for the displaced near the city of Ma'aret Misrin, without causing any casualties.

One person was also killed and others were wounded, including civilians, after militias linked to Russia targeted with laser-guided Krasnopol missiles the village of Maarblit in the Jabal al-Zawiya area, south of Idlib.

A civilian was also seriously wounded, as a result of similar bombing of civilian homes in the town of Mantef in the Jabal al-Zawiya region, in conjunction with intense flight of Russian reconnaissance and warplanes in the area.

Since the ceasefire deal in March 2020, the Russian-backed regime has stopped short of launching a fully-fledged land offensive to deliver on its promise to reconquer the entire country.

But violations of the ceasefire are relatively frequent as regime forces try to maintain their stranglehold on the enclave.

Northwestern Syria is home to 3.5 million refugees but is controlled by opposition Islamist fighters.

The Syrian conflict has claimed 494,438 lives and has displaced 13,2 million people since it erupted in March 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
