(Zaman Al Wasl)- The mounting outrage of Bashar al-Assad’s fellow Alawite sect, especially in his hometown of Qardaha near Latakia, has pushed him to intensify official visits to Present condolences or give financial aid.
Regime-run media reported a visit by Hilal Hilal, Assad’s first aide in Baath Party to Qardaha where he met with 500 families of soldiers killed in Assad's war on Syrian people.
Activists said each family got only 50 dollars as payoff for their loss. A reward makes social media activists mocking of Assad’s disrespect for his soldiers' sacrifice.
More than 1,500 fighters from Qardaha have been killed during the three-year conflict, pro-regime websites reported.
Weeks ago, Regime's First Lady, Asma al-Assad, made a solace visit to Qardaha to ease the anger of Assad’s supporters.
The traditional home of the Assad family, which has ruled Syria since 1970, was a main supplier for Shabiha militia.
The village in the mountains overlooking the coastal town of Latakia, believed to be the last bulwark for Assad's family.
Last month marked humiliating deafest on Assad’s forces inflicted by Islamic State group east Syria as well the Alawite villages have been a clear target for constant shelling by Nusra Front what sparked a state of fear and panic amid its people.
Activists said Assad’s main mission now is to rebuild trust. Some Alawites social media activists called for a new man to protect them.
Syria's three-year conflict began as popular protests against four decades of Assad family rule but changed into armed insurgency under a security force crackdown.
