New Syria's Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shaibani, has outlined on Tuesday the features of the next stage of the new Syria, stressing that the country is heading towards a new page based on justice and national reconciliation, and ending injustice and tyranny.
Al-Shaibani stated that "everyone will feel a sense of belonging to the new Syria. We will turn the page on injustice and tyranny, and establish a homeland in which all Syrians, with their various spectra and ethnicities, are represented fairly." The minister stressed that this stage requires full cooperation from everyone to achieve national unity.
He added that the government will work to secure a "dear and honorable" return for everyone who was forced to leave their homeland and home due to the war.
Al-Shaibani stressed that the priority will be to provide a safe and stable environment that guarantees citizens a decent life away from any threats.
Regarding representing Syria internationally and regionally, Al-Shaibani said: "Our compass in the new Syria is to achieve fair representation for our country, and to defend the issues of our people in all forums. Syria will return to its regional and international role as a major player in the region.”
In a position that reflects the new government’s commitment to justice, Al-Shaibani referred to the pain caused by the images of corpses and human slaughterhouses that the country witnessed during the years of conflict.
He said: “We will work to legally pursue those involved in these crimes and bring them to justice. There will be no room for impunity in the new Syria.”
The minister concluded his statements with a touching message, saying: “We will be faithful to the covenant of the martyrs and loyal to the wills of detainees and those killed under torture. These sacrifices will be the basis for building a new homeland that enjoys justice and dignity.”
Al-Shaibani’s statements reflect a new vision that seeks to achieve stability and reconciliation, within the framework of serious steps to rebuild Syria on the foundations of justice, and restore its role as an effective state at the regional and international levels.
