The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out a large-scale raid and search campaign on Thursday in several areas in the eastern Raqqa countryside and the western Deir ez-Zor countryside, under the pretext of disarming civilians and ensuring the area was free of unlicensed weapons.
The large-scale operation began in the village of Al-Hamrat, east of Raqqa, and passed through several towns, such as Al-Karama and Al-Haws, reaching Jazarat Al-Bu Hamid in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside. The campaign is part of the SDF's ongoing efforts to curb the presence of illegal weapons, with support from US-led coalition warplanes, which provided security for the operations.
The campaign included house searches and inspections of various facilities for weapons, with the aim of reducing the possibility of any protests or anti-SDF movements in the area.
Through these operations, the SDF is attempting to ensure that no uprisings against its authority occur and to strengthen its security control over the region.
Raids are continuing in many areas, while the countryside of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor is witnessing a tense atmosphere due to the intensified security measures.
