Tribal fighters in the Sweida countryside found advanced military equipment, including two types of missiles.
The first is believed to be a US-made air-to-air missile, similar to the AIM-9 Sidewinder, used to intercept aircraft in close air engagements. It can also be used against ground targets, but requires specialized training. The second is a French SS.11 B1-T-TCM anti-tank guided missile, used in previous wars and launched from helicopters or ground platforms via a wire-guided system.
The discovery of these advanced munitions completely excludes the possibility that they were originally supplied by the former regime and raises serious questions about who armed the parties involved, whether inside Syria or across the border.
