Daraa: "Abshari Hauran" campaign raises $37 million

The "Abshari Hawran" campaign kicked off on Saturday evening at the ancient Bosra al-Sham amphitheater in the eastern countryside of Daraa. The event was attended by a number of Syrian government ministers and social, religious, and cultural figures.

The event, which began with a celebration combining historical symbolism with a humanitarian message, included artistic and poetic performances celebrating Hawran's heritage and expressing the values of chivalry and generosity. The event also featured Hawran songs, which reflected the unity of the province's people, performed by the Daraa Popular Arts Troupe.

The organizers stated that the campaign's goal is to raise $32,740,000 to rehabilitate basic services in the southern province, where protests against the former regime erupted and many areas were severely damaged.

By Saturday evening, the campaign organizers had raised approximately $37 million, and they expect the figure to double over the next two days, as the campaign continues for three days.

Among the most prominent donors was Muwaffaq Qaddah, a Syrian businessman residing in the UAE and originally from Daraa Governorate, who donated $10 million. Syrian Finance Minister Mohammad Barniyeh also announced that the Syrian government would donate a similar amount in next year's budget.

Daraa Governor Anwar al-Zoubi said that the campaign's goal, in addition to collecting these funds, is to strengthen unity among the people of the governorate and draw the attention of all Syrians to Daraa Governorate. He praised the response from the people of the governorate and all Syrians, both inside and outside the country, and even from Arab citizens.
