Damascus, Sept. 16 (SANA) The General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced Wednesday that its Compliance and Quality Department has obtained ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system, with accreditation from a U.S. body.
The authority’s president, Omar al-Hosari, said the certification makes civil aviation the first Syrian government institution to receive ISO 9001 certification after liberation.
Al-Hosari told SANA that obtaining the certification represents an important milestone in developing institutional work and reflects the authority’s commitment to applying quality standards and improving the level of performance and services provided.
He added that the authority’s main objective is to ensure that quality standards are reflected in daily operations, contributing to higher efficiency, improved services and increased satisfaction among clients and those dealing with the authority.
Yaser Alaiwi, Director General of the Syrian Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology, said that granting ISO 9001 certification to a national institution demonstrates institutional commitment to clear quality management approaches, improved performance, increased efficiency, enhanced beneficiary satisfaction and continuous improvement.
