Joint Syrian-Iraqi operations seize 1 million Captagon pills

The Syrian Narcotics Administration, in a high-level collaboration with Iraq’s General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control, successfully dismantled several international drug trafficking networks on Wednesday. Three specialized security operations resulted in the total collapse of these syndicates’ logistical structures.

The Ministry of Interior stated that security forces seized approximately one million Captagon pills during the raids. The operation didn’t just stop at the contraband; four high-level operatives, identified as key leaders within these international networks, were apprehended and are currently undergoing legal proceedings.

This breakthrough is the direct result of a formalized intelligence-sharing agreement between Damascus and Baghdad.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the Syrian and Iraqi communities from the “poison of narcotics.” By striking at the heart of these cross-border criminal entities, the two nations are sending a clear message that their shared borders are fortified against illicit activity.

This operation marks one of the largest drug seizures of 2026 and underscores the growing effectiveness of the security apparatus in engaging with regional partners to maintain law and order.
