Syria’s Ministry of Interior announced Friday the dismantling of a criminal network operating in Tartous Governorate and the seizure of two million Captagon pills prepared for smuggling, with two suspects arrested and referred to the competent authorities for investigation and prosecution.
The ministry said via its official Telegram channel that Interior Ministry units carried out the operation, apprehending the two members of the cell — identified only by their initials — and confiscating the drug shipment.
The operation follows a larger counter-narcotics bust announced in May, in which the Narcotics Control Administration seized 25 million Captagon pills concealed inside ceramic containers and arrested a seven-member international smuggling network, including its ringleader.
