(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime air strikes on Wednesday killed 5 people, 2 children and 3 women, in the rebel-held city of Douma near Damascus, according the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Activists said Bashar al-Assad’s helicopters have dropped barrel bombs on the hometown of Zahran Alloush, Islam Army commander, in retaliation to Sunday’s 100-rocket attack on Damascus.
The embattled city of Douma has paid a high price as regime’s warplanes, relentlessly, have been pounding the city with barrel bombs and carrying out hundreds of air strikes for over a year.
Douma is among the first areas which revolted against Assad in March 2011.
The Syrian conflict began as a peaceful movement that morphed into a civil war that has killed more than 200,000 people and forced half the population to flee their homes.
