Jihadist fighters from the Islamic State of
Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) have executed a man in Syria's Raqqa province after
accusing him of blasphemy, sources told Zaman Alwasl.
Activists said the ISIS fighter has been
killed over defection attempt, which is not related to blasphemy, "Unless
ISIS disobedience might make him infidel," they added.
In June 2013, ISIS had executed a
teenager in front of his parents after accusing him of blaspheming against the
Prophet Mohammed.
In relevant context, ISIS has
arrested a number of Hamza brigade’s fighters after their refusal to pledge
allegiance to 'The Islamic State' in Tal Abyad,
border town with Turkey, 50 km north Raqqa.
Hamza brigade is operating under the
ISIS leadership where its mission to guard the strategic border crossing of Tal
Abyad. But since shuttering the crossing by ISIS month ago, thousands of people
have been strapped next to the borders in severe life conditions due to their
inability to pass from and to Turkey.
The jihadist group has been
criticized by many within the Syrian opposition for a string of abuses in areas
under its control.
But it remains a potent fighting
force in Syria, where nearly 136,000 people have been killed since the conflict
began in March 2011, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
