Plans, initiatives of Zaman Al Wasl for 2015

By Editor in-Chief; Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Al Wasl)- We welcome 2015 with hope and enthusiasm despite the prevailing feeling of pain and fear for Syrians and Syrian-Palestinians.

Zaman al-Wasl has learnt a lot last year, it improved the management and publications' methods, besides establishing an Editing Constitution” for all workers and co-operators with the newspaper to abide by.

In the new year, Zaman al-Wasl plans to carry on publishing “leaks”, as till now only 15% of them have been published.

Plans have been put forward to push Zaman al-Wasl forward to have its position within the revolution's media and journalism.

Zaman al-Wasl will financially support 10 projects: “artistic, social, humanitarian or revolutionary”. No age restriction for those projects, as the aim is to test the public opinion, to be able to face the regime’s projects and extremism.

Moreover, proceeding from its national commitment, Zaman al-Wasl will encourage those new projects, trying to help in building a new generation, different from Ba’ath generation, in the same time rejects extremism.

The new most important feature Zaman al-Wasl would launch is publishing image-supported reports, which could be the pioneer and the most important publications about the Syria internationally. Details like faces of victims from different religions and sections, torturers and killers would be there.

Zaman al-Wasl started a non-stoppable search for truth inside regime’s archives, as the newspaper published in the beginning of the year a list of 1200 people wanted by the Syrian regime. A search engine would be allocated for this list.

Zaman al-Wasl would concentrate on the English version, to target foreign readers and audiences, using their language and expressions.

In the end, I am as an Editor of the newspaper, not more than a Syrian wants to help his country through Zaman al-Wasl, which is your newspaper. It was born in an orphanage in Homs 2005 and will succeed by all of you.
