Downed Iranian drone has same U.S. design: expert

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A military expert said the Iranian drone (
RQ-170) that shot down by Israel on Saturday was a typical design of the American drones.

Iranians used the reverse engineering based on the American ghost plane bearing the same name, manufactured by the American Lockheed Martin company after they obtained one of these planes from the Afghan Taliban in good shape and due to a technical fault.”

Iran has announced that it is manufacturing an airplane identical to the US model at the end of 2014. At the time, the commander of the Air Force in the Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier Ali Haji said, “We will not hand over the American model to the United States, because we took it as spoils but if the Americans lift the embargo on Iran perhaps we will provide them with an Iranian RQ model.”

Iran deployed troops in most army bases: military source

Iran boasts that it manufactured the airplane which is characterized by its ability to infiltrate, hide, fly for long distances, and penetrate territories undetected by radars. According to our source, this may have been the reason for the most recent infiltrate. He said, “Iran sent its ghost plane over the occupied territories thinking that the Israeli observation equipment will not discover it but it was surprised as soon as this new invention entered Israeli airspace it became small pieces.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied that it had any role in sending the plane or bringing down an Israeli aircraft. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi considers “Israeli allegations” in this regard as ridiculous.
