'Pigs Brought to Slaughterhouse': Russian Mercenaries in Syria

(Zaman Al Wasl)- If it is right to say the 7th of February events represent the "mother of battles" that Washington fought directly in Syria because of the large number of fatalities, the Russian side represents what can be described as "the mother of the fighter" and for the same reason, according to this investigation by drawing a detailed scene with the real number of the fatalities of the "Bloody Wednesday" which Russians will remember for a long time.

Zaman al-Wasl report is based on two main aspects. The first is the translation of the content of a local Russian site report. The report included an interview with the wife of one of the dead fighter and the mayor of the area where the Russian mercenaries fighting in Syria come from.

The second part is related to information provided by our local sources of main Russian fighters killed, according to the ideological, missionary and pastoral linking the two parties and we mean those mercenaries belonging to the Orthodox denomination.

Despite the multiplicity of media outlets that reported happened on the 7th February, we chose the local Russian site to assure us that such sites are active in the field, which is known for many of its small and micro-details, and it takes its "comfort" in presenting these details since it has very local readership unlike large sites (national or global) whose approaches to such topics are rather general.

Asbest town in Sverdlovsk province received tragic news for its inhabitants, informing them of the deaths of sons, husbands, brothers, and friends who went to fight in Syria but were treated like "dogs" and "mice" and "pigs who were led to slaughter" for free.

Before entering into the heart of the scene surrounding the Russians killed in Deir Ezzor, we must prepare a preface specially designed to put the reader in the atmosphere of some of the areas from which Moscow brings its mercenaries, a very important and fundamental introduction to understanding the nature of the regime in Russia, and its insistence on killing the inhabitants of those regions more than once.

 -Cowboy-

Asbest was derived from Asbestos (the rock silk) since it has the world's largest mine to produce this highly hazardous substance which kills about 15,000 people in Europe alone every year as a result of cancerous tumors that kill different parts of the body.

Unlike many countries that banned the use of asbestos, Russia, under its underdevelopment in the fields of economy and human rights, continues to insist on the production of this substance, risking the lives of millions of people in Russia and around the world where it exports its products.

Russia has the largest reserves of asbestos. A quarter of the world's production comes from Asbest mine stretching over 11-km-long, 3-kilometer-width, 300-meter-depth. So Asbest is considered one of the largest and most dangerous pollution hotspots in the country.

Consequently, the city of Asbest is on the tin of death hidden in the dust and toxins of "rock silk", and its people are between two fires. The fire to leave Asbest and never return or wait for cancers and tumors that kill their bodies without finding anyone who cares about them. Here, it is not surprising that the population of Asbestos has shrunk over the years as if it were a city with no place for births but only for deaths (its population in recent years has dropped from 76,000 to less than 68,000 and in 1989 to 85,000).

Because Putin rules with a Stalin mentality which prefers stones over humans and sacrifices people for money, the regime resisted any attempt to rid Russian cities and regions of industries and mines that pose a mortal danger to the lives of millions. The Russian regiem instead would hint more poverty and destitution for any area whose people demand the closure of toxic factories and mines, coming against government "studies". One government study says that there are 467 cities and 332 small cities which depend in its livelihood on one plant or mine, and 25 million Russians (out of a total population of 142 millions) live in towns where there is only one major industry, which is impossible to stop this industry even if it threatens the lives of these millions.

Thus, Russians suffer the misery on every side, in a city covered with toxic dust so that it obscures the sight of the person who is standing by you some times. In this atmosphere, the professional killer dressed as the town's governor ) like the American cowboy films, Putin's agents have emerged as the "faithful" and in their hands a "solution" to the men of these regions and their surroundings. These people cross from one slow death to another fast one with bullets and shells.

The beginning was with the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis where Putin found a comfortable playground to throw his mercenary either through the official gate (the armed forces) or through the back gates represented by private security companies, most notably Wagner.

Russian mercenaries poured into the separatist regions of Ukraine (Donbas) armed with various kinds of weapons, contracts and covenants with very high salaries and very tempting compensation if they were killed in defense of "Russian sovereignty" and "national sentiment".

In the same vein, many of these mercenaries were subsequently shipped to Syria to take on multiple missions, ultimately revolving around making more money, very little for the mercenaries and their miserable families, and much more for Putin and his wealth-owning agents.

-Another disgrace-

The local Zanak website says it was able to contact the wife of a Wagner mercenary after confirming that her 38-year-old husband, Stanislav Matteviev, died on Wednesday 7 February. Also, the news website contacted Asbest leader called Ataman in Cossack language to learn from him the circumstances of what happened; and to see through this "the Ataman" on the total number of American air strikes against the Russians in Deir Ezzor province.

Since she received the news of her husband's death, Elena Matvieva, at home with an almost nervous breakdown, is trying to cover her 13 years with Stanislav, whom he "treated her with appreciation" before Ataman gave her the news of his death.

She explained Ataman Asbest called me and asked me, "When did your husband phone you last?" I told him that it was 3 days ago, and he called me again after about a minute to say: "Stanislav and Igor (a mercenary friend) are gone."

In the midst of her crying, the wife clarifies that she is still waiting to receive the body of her husband, who was taken with the bodies of others to the city of Rostov for a DNA check to verify the identities of the dead (this reinforces the narrative that most of the dead mercenaries bodies are carnage. if their bodies were fine, Russia would have summoned relatives to identify them).

"They were shot there like dogs, like mice," Matvieva said.

Another recording of one of Telegram's private channels reveals part of the "hell" in which Russian mercenaries found themselves on Feb 7 where 200 of them were "crushed" in one location, 10 in another, and possibly others elsewhere. But the government will turn its back on them, and no one will do anything for them and this is another disgrace for Russia.

According to Matvieva, her husband was a participant in the Donbass war and then he returned to rest for about a year. From there, he was transferred to Syria in late September 2017 accompanied by many of the city's youth after his relative Igor Kosotorov who became the leader of Matieva before they were killed together on the same day.

Regarding the money her husband sent her, Matieva said, "she received about 109,000 rubles (about $ 1925, an average of 1280 per month, a very large sum compared to the tragic situation of the population of these areas and the average salary in Russia."

The wife remembers romantically," he was a wonderful man. He did not allow me to work, but he always says that I have to sit at home and take care of children." On this basis, the reporter asks her, "so you do not work now? She says, " no, she receives 1380 rubles a month (less than $ 25!). It should be remembered that her husband was able to send her $ 1,300 a month to realize the "bottom" of the poverty in which these Russians are wandering, to the extent that they see any other chance - no matter how ordinary - as an opportunity that should not be missed even if the price is their lives).

-Take revenge-

When asked if her husband had been honored or given a rank during his fight in Syria, the wife stood up to say, "would you rather tell me who will contact me, and will they tell me, if everything has been cursed there? How are they going to identify his body? Are they going to bring me a piece and tell me this is your husband ?"
He went to fight in Ukraine, trying to deceive his wife, according to her claim, that he wanted to help the victims of the war ignited by his country, and that he wanted to contribute to the construction of housing for these displaced, and then the wife found that the mission was completely different, and when he went to Syria, the picture was quite clear for his wife. He promised his wife ample money, and a near return planned for next March.

Mattieva intended to show she was the deceived sad wife, she said it clearly in her answer to the last question, "What do you want now, and what actions do you want the state to take?" She answered, "I want everyone to know not only the news of my husband, but about all the men who died in this stupid way. Where were they sent? They were without protection just like pigs are sent to slaughter. I want the government to take revenge." she said.

Here the interview ends with the wife of the dead mercenary, to be transferred to Ataman Oleg Surinen, to talk about his information about the events of the 7th of February, where he meets at the office of the local branch of the Union of Veterans of Afghanistan (ironically, Afghanistan is a cemetery for the Russians and a wound that still bleeds despite decades passing).

Despite embarrassment to ask about the latest number of Russians killed in Syria, Sournin answers frankly, "in the first day (Feb 7), when all this happened, there was information about 30 dead, and on February 11 the information was about 217 (measured by the doubling of the number of people killed between 7 and 11 February). Measured by the intensity of US raids that have turned the target sites into ashes and ashes, it is likely that the number of dead will not be 217.
