Tahrir al-Sham militants kill 10-year-old child in Idlib

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A ten-year-old boy was killed Saturday when militants of the former al-Qaeda branch opened fire on a van carrying civilians in northern Idlib province, local activists said.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham said its checkpoint in the town of Ma'arret Mesrin had opened fire on a minibus after the driver refused to stop.

Pro-Tahrir al-Sham news feeds said the group feared the van was belonging to a gang.

The formerly-known as Jabhat al-Nusra has killed most of its opponents, including citizen journalists and human rights advocates.

Tahrir al-Sham, which is the dominant force in Idlib, and other hardline groups have refused to pull out their fighters from Idlib despite the de-militarized zone which was announced by rebel backer Ankara and Moscow in September to separate regime troops from rebel fighters in Idlib and adjacent areas.
