President Ahmad al-Sharaa extended his condolences on Sunday to the family of Dr. Abdul Rahman Yassin, the husband of Dr. Rania al-Abbasi, following the confirmation of the death of their children in prisons run by the deposed regime.
The condolences were conveyed on Sunday during a telephone call made by President al-Sharaa to the family while the Head of the National Authority for Missing Persons, Dr. Mohammad Reda Jalkhi, Deputy Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Tahan, and a delegation from Tartous Governorate were visiting the family home to offer solidarity and stand by them in their grief.
On Saturday, the National Authority for Missing Persons announced that it had reached reliable and corroborated conclusions allowing it to conclude, with a high degree of professional certainty, that the children of Dr. Rania al-Abbasi had died.
The Ministry of Interior stated, in turn, that investigations conducted with a number of detainees had led to information and evidence indicating that the children were killed by groups and militias affiliated with the deposed regime.
